Atari has released Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition, a recreation of the original game developed by Beamdog and published by Overhaul Games. It debuted for Windows on November 28, 2012, and was then ported to iPad, OS X, Android, and Linux between December 2012 and November 2014. The original Baldur’s Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast has been updated with additional content from Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn, including a new field experience called The Black Pits. The complete original content from both games is included here, from the stories to the game worlds to the persistent interactions and characters.

The rules of Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition are based on those of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, Second Edition, published by Wizards of the Coast. There is a greater focus on the single-player and multiplayer modes, although many aspects of the continuing interaction, such as moving between locations, the “paper doll” hardware foundation, and stock management, remain the same.

According to a statement released by Beamdog, the Overhaul team has implemented hundreds of changes to the base game for this Enhanced Edition. Due to the addition of new features, the game’s multiplayer mode may now accommodate players of varying skill levels, giving them the chance to bond over a shared yet unique adventure (as of Version 2.3.6).
