Most of your time in Planescape: Torment will be spent immersed in the story, rather than the fight sequences. The Nameless One is an immortal man who forgets his identity after death. The plot revolves around his adventures as he searches the many realms and the city of Sigil for clues to his past lives and the reason he was turned into an undead monster. Many of the game’s characters have interacted with or seen the Nameless One before, so it’s possible that they’ll tag along on his journey.
Although the game failed financially, it was hailed by critics and has since become a religious symbol. It was hailed as the best pretending computer game of 1999 for its engaging dialogue, Planescape scenario, and remarkable hero’s persona, all of which eschewed many features of typical pretending games.
It is still widely regarded, long after its release, as one of the best video games of all time. The updated version was released by Beamdog in April 2017 for Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, and iOS, and in October 2019 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
