The player’s character, the Dragonborn, must save the world by completing a mission to vanquish Alduin the Planet-Eater, a mythical creature who is said to have the power to destroy all of humanity. This game is set in Skyrim, the northernmost region of Tamriel, after the events of Oblivion. The player advances in the game by accomplishing objectives and levelling up their character’s abilities. For the most part, the game stays true to its open-world form by letting players explore any part of the world whenever they like, postponing or completely skipping over the main plot.

Skyrim was made using a modified version of the Creation Engine. After much deliberation, the group decided to switch open worlds because their original choice was deemed less interesting by Oblivion’s creator, Todd Howard, who was responsible for the Imperial Province of Cyrodiil. Analysts praised the game’s character growth and setting, cementing the game’s place as one of the best in the history of video games.
Some consideration was given to the skirmish conflict and other pressing issues at the time of dispatch. Over 30 million copies had been sold by November 2016, making this the best-selling computer game of all time. Over seven million copies of the game were shipped to stores in the first week after its release.
Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn were all added to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Legendary Edition when it was released in June 2013.
For PC, PS4, and Xbox One, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Special Edition came out in October 2016. Not only does it come with all three add-on packs, but it also has a visual overhaul and new features like console modding support.
