Star Wars Knight Of The Old Republic Download: Star Wars Galaxies, Verant’s fantastic online role-playing game, has been getting a lot of attention recently, and rightfully so. However, BioWare’s Star Wars Battlefront II has been quietly developing in the background, and it may be the most entertaining Star Wars game ever created.

Unlike Galaxies, Knights of the Old Republic has a fantastic single-player story set in a fully explorable world with so much detail that you’ll need some time to unwind after you’re done. It’s totally acceptable to roleplay as a Wookiee potter or progress through a Tattooine light sabre search.

The most discouraging bit of information is that the game will initially only be available for the Xbox, with a laptop version coming sometime in the spring of 2015. We really enjoy the Baldur’s Gate series and would hate to see them skimp on the quality we’ve come to expect from a video game based on such a beloved franchise. Minigames in Consol RPGs have previously included things like swoop bike racing and using optical-maser guns. We need to have some options ready to make.

The game’s ten planets—including Tatooine, the Sith world, the Jedi Academy, and the Wookiee homeworld Kashyyyk—are all teeming with life, energy battles, NPCs, and goods. Also, you’ll get to cross space in a ship that looks a lot like the Millennium Falcon.

Given how drastically the game departs from the films, it’s impressive that the Star Wars vibe is still there. The way you’d imagine it to be if you went back in time 4,000 years (Before Luke). Everything about this episode, from the sets and characters to the droids and even the rudimentary R2 units, seems vastly superior to Episode I. The third instalment of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a game in this genre.
