The 2001 video game Uplink Download by Introversion Software is a reenactment game. The player assumes the role of a freelance PC programmer in a fictional 2010 and must break into unidentified PCs, sign contracts, and buy new tools in order to crack increasingly complex PC frameworks.

Uplink: Hacker Elite, the first release from developer Introversion, was met with critical acclaim in Europe and was published in the United States by publisher Strategy First in 2003.
In the year 2010, the player assumes the role of a programmer working for a company called Uplink Corporation. Throughout the course of the game, the player will gain wealth in the form of money, programming, passage equipment, and knowledge as they work with various clients and hack employees of international organizations for profit.
Andromeda Research Corporation is a “Against industrialist, Techno-rebel” group broadcasting the abolition of the Internet, and the story begins when you accept an email from a dead top-level Uplink specialist about their investigation (notwithstanding, this email can be dropped by player). The “Revelation” malware project aims to destroy the Internet through the use of fake life studies as a cover. Arunmor has developed a virus, Faith, to combat Revelation.
